He was born in Diano d'Alba in the “Le Cecche” farmhouse in 1906.

He left for India as a missionary at 17. Tireless walker visits a myriad of Indian tribes telling the gospel with a smile. Appointed Bishop in 1951, he founded the diocese of Dibrugarh, then in 1962 he founded another one of Tezpur and in the end that of Tura in 1972.

The oratory of the Parish of Diano is dedicated to Mons. Oreste Marengo for his constant attention to young people.

Oreste died in 1998 in India and was buried with a solemn ceremony in the Tura Cathedral.

The process for beatification began in 2008 and is still ongoing. Today he is a servant of God for rescue actions especially for orphaned children.
